At Holy Cross Lutheran Academy, our transitional kindergarten (TK) program in Rocklin, CA is designed for children who turn 5 by December 2nd. Our belief is that TK allows children additional time to be successful in meeting kindergarten standards. This helps foster a higher level of self-esteem, which can have a significant impact on current as well as future academic success.
Our TK program is taught by a credentialed teacher in a traditional kindergarten classroom and utilizes the curriculum similar to that used in our kindergarten program. Our emphasis is not only to help students learn academic skills but help them with social-emotional growth and character development as well. Our dedication to maintaining a class of 12 students enables us to provide differentiated instruction to meet each child’s individual needs.
Our success is attributed to a well-selected curriculum, loving and supporting staff, an engaging classroom and playground, and our commitment to having small class sizes. For more information about transitional kindergarten, please read the FAQs from the California Department of Education.
Morning and Afternoon Enrichment – Childcare
We offer before-school and after-school care that provides planned activities for children 2 years of age until early elementary. The goal of these exercises is to provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
The activities we offer include learning centers such as art, science, listening, and music. In addition, we offer free play, group activities and games, snack time, quiet time, as well as indoor and outdoor play, both guided and child-initiated.
In order to support and enrich the children’s experiences throughout the day, our staff collaborates with one another. Moreover, constant communication helps keep parents updated about their child’s day.
Our enrichment program can be defined in 3 words: nurturing, engaging, and fun!
Summer Enrichment – Childcare
From July to August, we offer part-time and full-time summer enrichment and childcare services for children ages 2 through 8. Our summer program is created to inspire children to take part in enriching activities with their teachers and peers, as well as to explore the environment.
Children who are part of our summer program are exposed to various activities that are designed to inspire the mind and ignite the imagination. During summertime, we help children gain skills and knowledge that can help them when they return to school in the fall.
To provide children with personalized attention, we maintain low teacher-to-student ratios. Having smaller classes also provides our staff with ample time to stimulate children through meaningful personal interactions.
Our mission is to assist children in developing a love of learning by creating an inviting and engaging environment that is appropriate for young individuals. Furthermore, we consider it our goal to focus on helping children overcome areas of struggle.
Our childcare services are preferred by parents because we keep their little ones safe and happy. Additionally, children love our program because we allow them to learn while having fun with their friends.
